Would you want the NY Knicks to trade for Karl-Anthony Towns?

Yeah so, I think it’s pretty obvious that the target here is Karl-Anthony Towns even with me trying to be somewhat ambiguous on the little ‘next page clicky thingy’.

For those who actually read these articles and not just skim through to look at the trades all to just berate me in the comments, just know I’m having equally as much of a hard time even writing about this as you are reading it.

Mitch is just our guy and I’d want nothing more but to have him here and retire as a Knick.

But here goes nothing.

KAT has been a popular hypothetical trade target for several other teams as well as the Knicks.

It’s purely speculation but there are a lot of people out there who think KAT would welcome a reunion with Coach Thibs even after essentially driving him out of Minnesota.

The difference now is that KAT was 22 back then and now he’s 25 going on 26 years old and probably has winning aspirations now.

Anywho, here’s the trade I thought up:

We all know this is a Superstar-driven league and Karl-Anthony Towns is a bonafide Superstar.

A lot of Knicks fans don’t think he’s a needle-mover because he’s had little to no success while with the Timberwolves, but then again, the same could have been said about Anthony Davis prior to his trade to the Lakers.

You could argue KAT is a better offensive player overall when compared to Anthony Davis.

AD definitely has a one-up on him on the defensive side but when you’re a 7-footer, it wouldn’t take very much coaching to become a better rim protector when coached by Thibs.

I have 2 reasons why I’m not doing this trade.

First off, his fit next to Julius Randle would just kinda be awkward as they have similar roles in their respective offenses.

Second, in my opinion, Centers just don’t win titles.

If the Knicks are going to go all out on a trade for a Superstar, I’d hope it was for a Point Guard or a Wing.

We can go back 10+ years to when a Center was the best player on a team that actually won a title.

Verdict: Not doing this one if I were GM
