I’m gonna be honest here…I don’t even want to write this because I love Mitchell Robinson and I love him for the NY Knicks.

But I was at the game Sunday evening and I watched Mitch go down with an apparent knee injury.

When I tell you, the energy in that building was sucked out in an instant, I’m not even slightly kidding around.

The entire mood of the stadium shifted within a blink of an eye.

I messaged into our little group chat with the other Daily Knicks writers and the feeling was a very somber one.

Fortunately, Mitch came back and seemed to be fine afterward but all that moment did was take me back to last year during both of his freak injuries.

Should the NY Knicks trade Mitchell Robinson?

I remember how sorely he was missed and how badly the team needed his presence both on and off the court.

And how much he was missed during the playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks.

You’d think everything I’m saying would prove that the Knicks need Mitch, and they do, but what they need even more than Mitch is someone who can stay on the court for the majority of an entire season.

Perhaps this is a bit near-sighted and Mitch ends up remaining healthy the rest of the year.

But with the team being as good as it is today, but more importantly, so much better than it was last year…as they say, the best ability is availability and I don’t want to see the Knicks in dire need of Mitch again come playoff time.

If he had already received his extension, I wouldn’t even waste my time writing this as the Knicks would have decided that he’s their guy for the long-term and with him locked up for multiple years, nothing I could say here would make any sense.

But because the front office has yet to offer him a new contract, their concerns are likely similar to mine.

My first choice above all would be to have Mitch here and have him for a long time.

But he’s gotta prove he can stay healthy for me to give my utmost faith into that concept, so here are 3 trades I would consider for an upgrade at Center.
