New York Knicks Frontcourt: Jericho Sims

The 58th overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Jericho Sims has already flashed some serious upside.

What We Know

Sims played all four seasons of college and is coming into the league as a pretty “raw” prospect in terms of his technical skills, which is probably why he slid in the draft.

He’s a wildly athletic big man who has some outstanding measurables. We saw him play significant minutes in the Summer League and he looked the part of an NBA center.

What To Expect

Sims may stick with the roster but may also spend time in the G-league.

He is the 4th center on this roster, and none of the team’s centers have any real positional versatility. The path to playing time is murky.

It’s also the beginning of the season. We never want to predict injuries, but the Knicks had enough injuries to this same group of centers last season to the point where they had Norvel Pelle getting a decent chunk of playing time.

Sims has a long way to go but has the profile to fill in as a center in Tom Thibodeau’s system. Depending on how the New York Knicks roster shakes out over the next few seasons, we could see more Jericho Sims down the line.
