Will Miles McBride be with the NY Knicks long-term?

When the Knicks made their 3rd trade of the night during the 2021 NBA Draft, I had been ready to call it an evening and wait to read about who they selected the following morning.

Safe to say, that didn’t happen.

I stayed up until the 36th pick was conveyed, and boy was I happy I did.

The Knicks selected a gritty, hard-nosed Point Guard who I was very high on pre-draft in West Virginia’s Miles ‘Deuce’ McBride.

Everything you’d ready on his scouting report screamed ‘Tom Thibodeau would love you’.

He’s willing to pick up his man full-court on defense no matter the situation, he has an affinity to attack the basket aggressively but can also shoot it from deep at a pretty high clip.

He played so well during the Knicks’ Summer League, it had us all thinking he would need a spot in Thibs’ rotation this upcoming season.

In all likelihood, he’ll begin the season on the outside looking in but he’s certainly earned himself some playing time when it’s warranted.

The Knicks have two Point Guards who were some of the best to ever do it back in their primes, but both as we know have had their fair share of lower-body injuries throughout the years so the ‘Deuce’ will most definitely be let loose as the season progresses.

I really think Thibs is going to fall in love with this kid and for as long as he’s coaching the Knicks, McBride will have a spot on the roster.

Even when the Knicks inevitably swing a deal for a Superstar to pair with Julius Randle, I hope Duece becomes valuable enough that the front office doesn’t consider him a tradable asset so that he can be here for the long haul.
