Will Kemba Walker be with the NY Knicks long-term?

Doesn’t it feel like fate that Kemba Walker finally became a Knick?

We’re all aware of the rumors that he was considering it back in 2019 but couldn’t get another big-name Superstar to join him so he landed in Boston instead.

He’s got a revenge game up against his former team on Wednesday for Opening Night, but fortunately, he’ll have his backcourt running mate in Evan Fournier.

The tandem became a formidable duo while with the Celtics and they’ll look to continue that success here in New York.

Kemba looks to be the starting Point Guard on the Knicks for at the very least the next 2 seasons and could potentially be here until he retires.

Really, it all depends on two things; his health and his willingness to stay flexible in his role.

The two factors really go hand in hand.

If Kemba can stay healthy, he could easily return close to All-Star caliber form which could warrant a long-term stay as the Knicks’ Point Guard.

Now, say his health starts to falter over time and the Knicks make a massive, blockbuster trade for someone like…Damian Lillard, would Kemba take a backseat and become the backup Point Guard and take a role similar to Derrick Rose’s?

Only time will tell.

But could you imagine a world where the Knicks have a Superstar caliber Point Guard with Kemba friggin’ Walker as his backup?

That would be…for lack of a better term…dope.

There are a couple of paths for Kemba’s long-term tenure with the Knicks so let’s hope it all works out and New York’s prodigal son stays put ti he hangs’em up.
