Should the NY Knicks give Wayne Selden the last Two-Way spot?

Wayne Selden is my personal pick for the last remaining two-way contract.

He was a popular name amongst the fans when he latched onto the team this summer to play in the Knicks’ Summer League where he started most games but had his ups and downs.

He’s the only player on this list with any real-world NBA experience.

Selden was the old man on the court during Summer League, being that he’s 27 years old so he comes with years under his belt for a coach in Tom Thibodeau who has favored experience over talent at times.

His ability to both guard and play any position 1 through 3 bodes well for Selden because it’ll give the Knicks that extra bit of depth that they may want from both two-way spots.

If he absolutely had to, Jericho Sims could play the 4 or the 5 while Selden is able to fill in at the other 3 positions, giving the Knicks optimal coverage if things were to really fall apart.

This would also be Selden’s final opportunity to latch on with a team on a two-way deal as after this season he would no longer be eligible.

So if he’s got some fans of him in the organization, perhaps that could help sway the front office and Thibs to try to keep him in some capacity instead of just letting him go or back down to the G-League.

Selden’s most notable years of his career so far were spent with Memphis where he got a decent amount of burn as a backup wing for a pretty awful Grizzlies squad.

He did average 9.3 points while playing nearly 20 minutes per game and shot over 40% from deep back in the 2017-18 season, so he’s really not half bad.

I’m just not sure how much more he can really develop down in the G-League seeing how he’s already been playing professionally for over 5 years now.

So instead of taking some attention away from the two younger guys I mentioned in the previous slides, let Selden work with the NBA players on the Knicks and keep the developmental staff with Westchester focused on coaxing as much talent out of the pups we brought along this summer.
