New York Knicks: Shoot at least 37 threes per game

The Knicks shot 39.2% from three as a team last season, the third-best mark in the NBA. However, they only attempted 30.0 threes every game which ranked a lowly 27th in the league.

If their offense is going to take the necessary steps forward, the team has to be comfortable with launching more shots from behind the arc.

Apparently, the group is already planning on doing just that.

While the Knicks aren’t suddenly going to become the Golden State Warriors in terms of three-point volume, they should become an above-average shooting team. 37 attempts from behind the arc per game would have ranked 10th in the NBA last season.

Walker and Fournier should help boost the total attempts, as both players are incredibly skilled shooters who have already started to display their shot-creation abilities in Madison Square Garden.

The team attempted exactly 37 three-point attempts during their preseason win on Tuesday night. Despite connecting on just 30% of those looks, it kept the Pacers defense spread and allowed more driving lanes for easy buckets in the paint.

The 2022 Knicks as a whole may not be defined by their shooting, but fully embracing modern offensive philosophies will help Thibodeau’s squad reach new heights.
