NY Knicks: What will the Knicks’ closing lineup look like?
Which NY Knicks Center do you think should close out games?
I truly believe the Center position during the 4th quarter will be a bit of a round-robin situation depending on who’s got the hot hand on the defensive side of the ball.
But for the most part, I think when all are healthy, Mitchell Robinson will be the guy to close out games.
There’s an incredibly short list of players at the 5 who can defend passing lanes as well or better than Mitch.
The only one I can think of personally is Miami’s Bam Adebayo.
Mitch is just overall the best defensive player on the Knicks this season and as long as he can stay upright, he should be on the court more often than not.
His ability to swat away shots is special, but unlike guys like Rudy Gobert and Myles Turner, Mitch gets the job done on both the perimeter and at the basket.
But, when opposing teams don’t necessarily have a super imposing force that needs to be contained at the 5-spot, the Knicks could potentially lean on Nerlens Noel or Taj Gibson to give Mitch more chances to rest as well as potentially create more scoring opportunities from mid-range.
Rumor has it, Nerlens Noel is working on his ability to stretch the floor…and Taj made a few mid-range shots last night against the Pacers.
He even made a 3-pointer…ya love to see it.
In conclusion, more often than not I’d like to see Mitch in these spots but I won’t be surprised if Noel or Taj get involved depending on the matchups.
