Julius Randle looks ready to have a big season for the NY Knicks
The Power Forward position is the most obvious choice of the bunch…because of course, it’s Julius Randle.
He’s the star of the team.
And although he fell apart in the playoffs, over the course of the 2020-21 season he was a monster in the 4th quarter of games.
Let’s be honest with ourselves, the Knicks were supposed to suck last year, especially on paper.
So when considering that Randle was really the only player opposing teams had to worry about whatsoever, the fact he was able to do anything at all in the 4th quarter is nothing short of a miracle.
It didn’t take the league very long to figure out that Julius was the guy to double-team during tight games and even with that being the case, he was able to find success and win the Knicks some games all on his own.
He averaged 5.1 points, 2.4 rebounds, and an assist per game in the 4th quarter while shooting 45% from the field and 35% from deep.
He also shot a whopping 85% from the charity stripe during close games where he was obviously the guy the opposing teams would have to hack to keep from getting easy buckets at the rim.
But now the weight is off Randle’s shoulders a bit and there’s gonna be times when the team doesn’t rely so heavily on him which will only result in even better numbers in my opinion.
They’re not going to be able to just key in on Julius late in games anymore, thus, giving him more opportunities to score especially off-ball.
I’m excited to see how Randle adjusts to this new style of offense with all the new faces in town.
But once he figures it all out, it should only mean good things for him as well as the team.
