December – A Holiday present for New York Knicks fans

Thursday, December 2, 7:30 p.m. – vs Chicago

Remember when I had the New York Knicks evening the season series with Milwaukee earlier on? Now it’s got to happen against the Bulls. New York is virtually already at home because an away game at Brooklyn doesn’t really count as traveling. The Knicks might also catch the Bulls off guard as they look to their December 4th date against the Nets. As far as December games go, this one’s too big to let slip.

Knicks record: 11-11

Saturday, December 4, 1:00 p.m. – vs Denver

Nikola Jokic is coming off his MVP season, Michael Porter Jr. just got his bag and the Denver Nuggets are out to prove to everyone that they belong. I actually don’t think New York matches up to bad against Denver, but when quality teams and stars come to the Garden, they can post some career highs. This seems like that type of game for a player that rhymes with Mikola Pokic.

Knicks record: 11-12

Tuesday, December 7, 8:30 p.m. – at San Antonio

Expectations haven’t been lower for the San Antonio Spurs since before I was born. A starting lineup that includes Jakob Poeltl and Doug McDermott should be torched by a Knicks team coming off a brutal stretch of games against playoff hopefuls. Big night from Julius Randle anyone?

Knicks record: 12-12

Wednesday, December 8, 7:00 p.m. – at Indiana

New York won’t miss a beat, likely departing from San Antonio the minute the buzzer sounds to make it to Indianapolis on time. Even though it’s an insanely quick turnaround, the Spurs game likely wasn’t a barn-burner, so the star guys should be rested and still hot from the game before. I like New York to keep it rolling against their Eastern Conference foe.

Knicks record: 13-12

Friday, December 10, 7:30 p.m. – at Toronto

Didn’t I say this December would be quite friendly for the New York Knicks? Sure, it’s another away game, but the Raptors are not the same Raptors team we’ve known them to be. A healthy Mitchell Robinson should be able to dominate down low against Khem Birch.

Knicks record: 14-12

Sunday, December 12, Noon – vs Milwaukee

The NBA just didn’t want to save any New York versus Milwaukee matchups for later in the season, huh? This time around, on a Sunday at Madison Square Garden, Giannis Antetokounmpo might be ready to do unearthly things. His career-high of 52 points in a game might be in jeopardy.

Knicks record: 14-13

Tuesday, December 14, 7:30 p.m. – vs Golden State

This is a game in which the New York Knicks franchise can turn some heads around the league. A TNT broadcast just days before Christmas against a revitalized big three is the perfect opportunity for the Knicks to come up with a big win. Thibodeau lives for these moments, so as long as the moment isn’t too big for the players, this could be one of New York’s most important wins on the season. Just make sure you check Steph Curry…

Knicks record: 15-13

Thursday, December 16, 8:00 p.m. – at Houston

Any energy spent on a game of that implied magnitude would usually result in a rough outing the next time out. Somehow New York will be fortunate enough to play the Rockets. Sure, they’re still NBA guys, but I guarantee you in three years over half of Houston’s players will no longer be in the Association. I’m not going to say who, but it’s just that much of a problem in Houston.

Knicks record: 16-13

Saturday, December 18, 8:30 p.m. – at Boston

All good things must come to an end and here’s where R.J. Barrett and Nerlens Noel are going to crash back down to reality. Boston will figure it out by this point and the away crowd will be a brutal environment for Fournier and Walker to return to.

Knicks record: 16-14

Tuesday, December 21, 7:30 p.m. – vs Detroit

New York will receive a much-needed two days off followed by a home game against the Detroit Pistons. Now make no mistake – this Cade Cunningham-led Pistons team is going to be a lot scarier than you might imagine. However, the Knicks have too many veteran players, and the R.J. Barrett matchup is extremely intriguing and likely favors New York based on his defense.

Knicks record: 17-14

Thursday, December 23, 7:30 p.m. – vs Washington

Washington is another team that’s in disarray, which is really who New York has on the schedule throughout December. The Wizards might not even have Bradley Beal on their roster by this point, but even if he still is in D.C., it’s not going to be pretty. Don’t think too hard. Back to back home games against teams likely not in the playoff hunt should result in wins.

Knicks record: 18-14

Saturday, December 25, Noon – vs Atlanta

Plenty of discuss on The Jump at 3 PM ET today with unveiling of Christmas Day games, including, sources say: Trae Young and Atlanta Hawks returning to play the New York Knicks at MSG. Plus, battle of the East-West titans: The Brooklyn Nets vs. the Los Angeles Lakers at Staples.

I don’t think this game needs much of a teaser to get fans excited. It’s all in the date and the opponent to be quite honest with you. This game would feel like winning a playoff series and the Knicks faithful is going to be ruthless. It’s been ten years since the New York Knicks won a game on Christmas.

Until now.

Knicks record: 19-14

Tuesday, December 28, 8:00 p.m. – at Minnesota

All of that celebration egg nog might just take a toll on a Knicks team that I have winning three straight games up to this point. Of course, New York is the favorite. However, the Timberwolves are going to score in bunches and might just catch these Knicks off guard.

Knicks record: 19-15

Wednesday, December 29, 7:00 p.m. – at Detroit

It’s the good old Central Time Zone trip! One day after an upset loss (is that even a thing in the NBA?) to Minnesota and it’s a rematch with Detroit. Like I said before, the Pistons will beat some teams they shouldn’t this year. They’ll have to wait for another try for a Knicks team that isn’t about to be befuddled again.

Knicks record: 20-15

Friday, December 31, 8:00 p.m. – at Oklahoma City

Are there worse places to be on New Year’s Eve? In all of the 28 NBA cities, I really can’t think of too many that would be. But this is a job we have here and that job is to play and win basketball games. Celebrating the New Year and partying the night away can wait and it 100% will in OKC. The Knicks ring in 2022 with another win.

Knicks record: 21-15
