New York Knicks: Full regular season schedule predictions
New York Knicks: October – Picking up where they left off
Wednesday, October 20, 7:30 p.m. – vs Boston
The opening game for the New York Knicks will be a home contest against Atlantic Division rival Boston. The Celtics will most likely be at full strength, with Jaylen Brown returning from wrist surgery.
However, in a home game featuring two former Celtics in Kemba Walker and Evan Fournier playing against their old team, I like New York to win game one of the season.
Knicks record: 1-0
Friday, October 22, 7:00 p.m. – at Orlando
New York will travel down to Orlando for game two against a Magic team that will feature rookie Jalen Suggs in its revamped starting lineup. However, after trading Nikola Vucevic to the Chicago Bulls, it’s a young and inexperienced Magic team. I’ll take New York on the road.
Knicks record: 2-0
Sunday, October 24, 7:00 p.m. – vs Orlando
After game one at the Amway Center, the Knicks and Magic will both travel back to New York City for a (sigh) second consecutive matchup. I’ll save my displeasure about the NBA scheduling this way for another time, but yet again, I can’t see the Magic coming back and beating the Knicks on their home floor.
Knicks record: 3-0
Tuesday, October 26, 7:30 p.m. – vs Philadelphia
Game four is where I see the New York Knicks losing for the first time this season. The Philadelphia 76ers have had all sorts of issues this offseason, with Ben Simmons not even planning on re-joining the team this season.
However, Philly swept the Knicks 3-0 in the season series last year. Simmons did play key roles in two of those wins, but New York doesn’t exactly match up well against a Philadelphia team with one of the best centers in the league in Joel Embiid.
Knicks record: 3-1
Thursday, October 28, 8:00 p.m. – at Chicago
The Knicks escaped Vucevic in those two games against Orlando but not this time. The European all-star now has DeMar DeRozan, Lonzo Ball and Zach LaVine as his teammates. That lineup is better on paper than what the Knicks are throwing out there and it’s also an away game in the Windy City.
Knicks record: 3-2
Saturday, October 30, 7:00 p.m. – at New Orleans
The Knicks will get a day off but the Pelicans won’t. New Orleans has a home game on the 29th against Sacramento, and given New York is a tougher opponent, might choose to rest key players (**cough, cough, Zion Williamson**). Even if they do have the usual lineup, I like the Knicks to get back in the winning column against a team Julius Randle absolutely torched a season ago (32.5 points per game in two games).
Knicks record: 4-2
