Should the NY Knicks bring back Damyean Dotson?

Bringing back a familiar face to our new-look Knicks would be refreshing, as evidenced by Taj Gibson’s return last year.

But having a guy who can also contribute to the team would be that much sweeter.

Damyean Dotson was drafted by the Knicks back in the 2017 NBA Draft, that’s right, the infamous Frank Ntilikina draft…

Who would have thought that the Knicks got the better of the two players in the 2nd round that year?

He’s primarily been a bench piece throughout his career, but when given the opportunity to get significant minutes, he plays his heart out and gets the job done.

During his sophomore season, the Knicks were absolutely abysmal which led to Dotson getting much more playing time than he was accustom to getting, and he delivered.

He averaged 10.7 points per game and shot 37% from deep that year.

Dotson was one of the first casualties from when Leon Rose took the team over a little over a year ago.

He spent last season with Cleveland on a two-year contract with a team option and unfortunately, they declined his second year.

He played much better as a member of the Knicks than on the Cavs, so letting him go made sense but that could just mean he missed his home here in New York.

I wouldn’t be opposed to bringing him back on and letting him bask in the glory of what being a Knick is in 2021 because he earned it back during his tenure with the team.
