New York Knicks — Robinson Goals: Shoot over 60% on FTs

While free-throw shooting has never been his strong suit, it’s still discouraging to see that Robinson’s percentage at the charity stripe has decreased with every season. That includes a lowly 49.1% in his limited action this past year.

Opposing teams haven’t yet started fouling him intentionally, but they may begin trying it out given that the rest of the Knicks starting lineup is filled with offensive firepower.

It isn’t a stretch to think that one of Julius Randle, Kemba Walker, RJ Barrett, and Evan Fournier can score 25+ points on any given night.

The NBA has instilled rules that limit the overall impact of this defensive strategy, but it’s still shown to be effective when you look at the postseason collapse of the Philadelphia 76ers partly due to All-Star Ben Simmons’ struggles at the charity stripe.

There are some positive signs, though. After shooting 43.8% on free throws in his first 19 games last season, Robinson hit over 57% of his free throws throughout his final 12 appearances.

If he can return to his rookie year free-throw percentage of 60.0% or even increase his accuracy, the Knicks offense would become even deadlier than it already seems.
