There may not be a more legendary intro video than the one that the NY Knicks put together for Carmelo Anthony’s first game as a Knick back in 2011.

Anthony, who was born in Brooklyn, received a carefully crafted video created by MSG that featured the song “I’m coming home” and used quotes from Anthony about his fondness for the city.

NY Knicks: Carmelo Anthony still watches the video

Melo went on Barstool’s “Pardon My Take” podcast for an interview and talked about his time with the Knicks. Below is the clip where he discusses the “I’m Coming Home” video.

You can watch the full interview here.

Carmelo Anthony, like many star New York athletes, seems like he wasn’t able to really get his flowers until he left the city.

He was never able to get very close to a championship in New York but he certainly will go down as one of the greatest Knicks in team history. His Brooklyn and Puerto Rican heritage and love for NYC always added to the lore of Carmelo Anthony playing for the Knicks.

There aren’t too many times in NBA history where a player of Carmelo Anthony’s caliber, in his prime, was traded in the middle of the season at the deadline. I think every Knicks fan remembers just how powerful the energy was in the city when news of the trade first broke.

His arrival in New York remains one of the more epic 21st century moments at Madison Square Garden.

There aren’t many fanbases that can point to a player introduction video and immediately remember the entire sequence.

Since leaving the Knicks, Carmelo had a bizarrely tumultuous few years before settling into a great role with the Portland Trail Blazers. A future Hall-of-Famer, Melo is still out here getting buckets at age 37.

Now, Melo finds himself playing alongside his longtime friend and 2003 draft classmate, Lebron James. Once a Knick, always a Knicks. We’re Knicks fans first, but the city will be rooting for Carmelo in LA.
