Should the NY Knicks trade for De’Aaron Fox?

De’Aaron Fox would fit on today’s Knicks roster like a glove.

He seriously does it all.

He’s a walking bucket, he gets steals on and off the ball, he’s a great playmaker, and he’s gotten better in almost every statistical category every season since he was drafted.

There’s definitely some room for improvement as a shooter but I am supremely confident the Knicks’ developmental staff would be able to help him work towards becoming a league-average shooter within one season.

The author of the original article had this to say regarding Fox:

"According to all publicly available knowledge, Fox isn’t actually on the trading block or looking for a way out of Sacramento. That said, his supreme talent, Kentucky ties, and mediocre franchise make it difficult not to treat him as a potential coup should he begin to tire of continually missing the playoffs. Fox is only 23 entering his fifth NBA season and would be an All-Star on any other roster. He’s one of the quickest players in the league and an obnoxious defender, maybe the best fit for this roster out there. Of course, this is all moot if he remains unavailable. If things turn around, the Knicks need to prepare a near-Dame offer sheet of young pieces and picks, which would be worth it."

“Publicly available knowledge”…pfft…

They have like 7 guards on the team worthy of minutes, with most of which who are younger than Fox.

They didn’t get a chance to draft their guy Franz Wagner because the Magic swooped in and stole him one pick before them, so instead of trading down or taking the next best wing or big available…they went with Baylor’s Davion Mitchell.

Sacramento was the league’s worst defense last season, so it makes sense for them to have gone with a defensive-minded player.

But a Point Guard? 9th Overall? When you have De’Aaron Fox as the focal point of your team?

Questionable move to say the least.

The Kings have invested heavily in the past few seasons into guards through the draft and I think that’s because they know Fox is going to eventually ask out, so they’re preparing themselves for when that day comes.
