What do you think NY Knicks’ Mitchell Robinson can gain from Derrick Rose?

While Rose and Robinson were both important contributors to last season’s 41-31 record, they only ended up appearing in 3 total games together.

Rose had tested positive for COVID-19 and was required to quarantine while Robinson was healthy, and Robinson was recovering from a fractured foot while Rose was healthy.

Suffice to say, the two teammates haven’t exactly had the chance to develop an on-court connection quite yet.

Robinson is heavily reliant on others to generate his offense, as the springy center is best utilized as an elite lob threat who can also crash the offensive glass.

He should pair well alongside Rose, as the two should theoretically be a lethal combination in pick & roll situations.

Rose averaged 0.98 points per possession as a pick & roll ball-handler last season, finishing in the 78th percentile among all NBA players. It was also the highest mark on the Knicks.

Robinson averaged 1.37 points per possession as a pick & roll finisher, which ranked in the 90th percentile league-wide. That also happened to be the highest mark in New York.

As long as they can both remain healthy, Rose and Robinson should be able to form an imposing offensive duo that can generate easy buckets while utilizing “the oldest play in basketball”, as Walt Frazier often declares.
