New York Knicks — Game 8 @ The Indiana Pacers
The New York Knicks are 6-1. It’s pandemonium in the streets of New York City. There’s a viral video of fans outside of MSG jumping around celebrating Kemba Walker’s game-winner against the Raptors. Stephen A. Smith pulls up to First Take with a cigar and a glass of bourbon.
When the Knicks are rolling, it’s hard to avoid them being talked about on TV.
Here we are just seven games into the season and we’re getting ahead of ourselves.
New York brings their 6-game winning streak into Indiana to take on the Pacers.
The Pacers seem to be the forgotten team in the Eastern Conference. A team that has solid pieces in place but hasn’t been able to really elevate themselves or give any reason to believe that they have the ability to make a deep playoff run.
Domantas Sabonis, Malcolm Brogdon, Caris LeVert, Myles Turner, and TJ Warren are a talented group. The Pacers are desperate to stay healthy this season and make noise.
New York and Indiana had some heated battles last season. Julius Randle has commented on his duels with Sabonis and how he gets extra motivation when he goes up against a player of Sabonis’s caliber.
The Pacers, at full strength, can hang with some good teams. This could be a bit of a trap game for New York.
Heading into Indiana, I see this being one of those nights where they simply come out flat. They buckle down in the 2nd half but are just playing too much catch-up and ultimately they fall short to the Pacers. It happens.
