Tom Thibodeau‘s second season with the NY Knicks is slated to begin on October 20th against the Boston Celtics.

It will be Thibodeau’s third such “Year Two Opening Night” in his career.

What connections can we glean about what year two looked like during Thibodeau’s previous tenures?

Repeated history can be a great teacher…and we learned A LOT from Year 1.

My wife and I bought our first car together in May of 2020. We are but simple school teachers.

Garaging our car is out of our price range, so we park on the street outside of our building in Harlem.

What should NY Knicks fans expect from Tom Thibodeau’s 2nd season?

One day when we started it up, we had a light that let us know our front left blinker was out.

When the mechanic opened the hood I couldn’t believe what I was looking at. Apparently, a rodent had just made itself at home in our engine. There was a literal corn cob, picked clean, resting on our chassis.

I was mortified. We have got to be the worst car owners in the world.

Turns out, our car’s manufacturer lines the wires with a soy-based coating. This issue is fairly common.

I spoke to other people who street parked in the city, and before I had even finished explaining the issue they would all, without fail, blurt out, “Rats got to it?”

They knew.

So this summer when our windshield washer fluid mechanism wasn’t spraying suds on the glass, we had an idea what might have happened.

Our suspicions were confirmed: Rats got to it.

Why am I telling you all this?

Twice was all it took for us. Three was not necessary to make a pattern.

Knicks fans can engage in the same thinking with Head Coach Tom Thibodeau. His two previous stops should paint a pretty clear picture of what to expect in year two at Madison Square Garden.
