NY Knicks: Reacting to a proposed Andrew Wiggins to NY trade

I know why a lot of media outlets and beat reporters are trying to pawn Andrew Wiggins off to the NY Knicks, but personally, I’m still not fully grasping why if that makes sense…

No disrespect to the guy, he’s been a pretty solid player up until this point in his career, but he’s never lived up to the hype he had coming into the league and I think he’s a bit overpaid.

I stumbled across an article by NBA Analysis Network with the following trade proposal:

It should be noted first and foremost that this is obviously not a trade for this current offseason and wouldn’t be possible until Fournier’s 90-day recently signed player exception passes.

Now, as I mentioned earlier…I get why Wiggins and the Knicks keep getting brought up in the same conversation.

Would you want the NY Knicks to trade for Andrew Wiggins?

Wiggins has name appeal. He’s a wing and at one point the Knicks needed help on the wing desperately.

He also played under Tom Thibodeau while with Minnesota and apparently, the two had a great relationship.

I could go on and on about why the trade makes sense for the Knicks, but the pairing just seems lazy by all of the authors who write about these trades.

I write faux-trade proposals all the time, so I know how difficult it can be to come up with this kind of stuff.

But for all of these sites to continuously shove Wiggins to the Knicks down our throats every other week for the past year…again, it’s just lazy writing in my opinion.

So anyway, back to the trade.

At this point, maybe it’s recency bias and I’m an excited fan who’s getting to play with a new toy in Evan Fournier, but I just don’t see Andrew Wiggins being that much of an upgrade over him, if at all.

The author of the article stated that the Knicks should look for a “more long-term” piece, that piece being Wiggins.

I think it’s pretty obvious that the Knicks are happy with how their roster has shaped out so far and if they were to make a blockbuster trade, they’re set up perfectly for it.

But unless the right ‘Superstar’ comes along in the near future, I would have to imagine they stick with that they’ve got now.

That said, this article was mainly to get the fanbase’s reactions. What are your thoughts?

Personally, I’m not doing this deal, but let us know in the comments what you would do if this trade was proposed.
