Do you think De’Aaron Fox would be a good fit on the NY Knicks?

Maybe De’Aaron Fox is a shade under what most would consider being a Superstar in today’s NBA, not he’s a special player nonetheless.

Although Fox was just given a max extension by the Kings, he could very well request a trade in the next few seasons regardless.

The reason being?

There are only a few fanbases and teams in the league that have been more heartbreaking and frustrating to be a part of in the last two decades than the Knicks and one of them is most definitely the Sacramento Kings.

The Kings have been awful for years now and it seems that no matter who they have running the show, they can never seem to get themselves out of a constant cycle of mediocrity.

We can say the same thing about the Knicks but at least we have the benefit of being in the market media market in the world.

The Kings are coming off of yet another abysmal season, touting one of the worst defenses in the league where they ranked dead last in defensive rating.

It was a relatively known fact that they were looking for an upgrade on the wing and wanted to draft someone who could help shore up the defense.

It seemed as if they were targeting Michigan’s Franz Wagner, but when he was taken with the 8th overall selection by Orlando, the front office pivoted and still went for defense…

Except they drafted Davion Mitchell…a point guard…after drafting yet another point guard last year in Tyrese Haliburton…the same position DeAaron Fox plays…

Now, having 3 ball-handling guards on the same team wouldn’t normally be a cause for concern because you could easily rotate between the three and get all of them their minutes.

But…there’s more than 3.

In fact, there are about 7 players on the roster worthy of playing time that can really only be slotted into the point guard or shooting guard spots.

Buddy Hield could very well be traded at some point, especially considering the Kings had a deal on the table for him that would have sent him to the Lakers right before LA pivoted and went with Russell Westbrook.

But that still leaves them with 6 players who would need time at just two positions.

Five of the 7 players are all on rookie-scale contracts, so it would make sense for the Kings to move on from both Hield and Fox in the near future if and when they decide to blow it all up and rebuild again.
