Should Miles McBride be the NY Knicks’ 3rd string Point Guard?
If you asked anyone a month ago who’s name would be here, I’d guarantee it would be Luca Vildoza’s by unanimous decision.
Between Luca’s underwhelming Olympics performance as well as his poor showings when given opportunities during this most recent Summer League, Luca may very well have played his last game in a Knicks’ uniform, let alone make the 15-man roster.
Miles “Deuce” McBride should be on the 15-man when the regular season comes in some capacity.
I wouldn’t be surprised if we do see Luca’s name in this spot in a month or so with Deuce as the ‘combo shooting guard’, but I believe the team will be better off if they give this spot to McBride instead.
This move would open up another potential roster spot for more of a veteran presence as well.
McBride had 4 outstanding performances to close out the Summer League, including a game where he absolutely took the game over and essentially beat the Lakers single-handedly by hitting 6 of 6 3-point attempts.
It looks like his scoring output from college is translating to the professional level seamlessly.
The kid will have a spot in this league due to his defensive abilities alone, but if he can continue to score when called upon like he was able to these past few weeks, the Knicks may have found yet another late gem in McBride.
