Would you compare NY Knicks’ Quentin Grimes to Danny Green?

I’ve probably spent the most time watching Quentin Grimes out of everyone on this list to try and figure out who his game reminds me of most.

At first, I was dead set on New Orleans’ Josh Hart but Hart is clearly the better playmaker of the two.

So in an attempt to get as close to Grimes’ style of play, I asked a bunch of my Daily Knicks writers.

After a quick little survey, Danny Green stuck out the most, and for good reason.

Both guys are strong wing defenders who can put the ball on the floor and create their own offense a bit but prefer to be an outlet on the perimeter for their teams.

Both players have high basketball IQs and always prioritize team production over personal.

When comparing Grimes’ and Green’s final collegiate seasons, they’re eerily similar.

Grimes was the focal point of his offense whereas Green was more of a secondary scorer off of the bench for the majority of his time at UNC.

And still, Grimes averaged 17.8 points, 1.4 steals, 2 assists, and 5.7 rebounds while shooting 41% from the floor and 40% from deep.

Green averaged 13.1 points, 1.8 steals, 2.7 assists, and 4.7 rebounds while shooting 47% from the floor and 42% from deep.

It might just be a Summer League overreaction but I do think Grimes presents a bit more scoring upside than Green, seeing how last night he finally broke out of his shell and unloaded 28 points in 36 minutes of action last night against the Cavs.

Too soon to tell but here’s hoping.
