NY Knicks free agent target No. 3) J.J. Redick

Despite the fact that the NY Knicks finished off the 2020-21 season ranked third in the association in 3-point percentage, by no means were they a high-octane long-range shooting squad.

Though their placement in this category may have one believe they were heavy on the attempts from downtown, they were actually quite the opposite, as New York finished the year ranked just 27th in such attempts per game.

Because of this, perhaps targeting some pure 3-point shooters could be a solid move to make so that the Knicks can transition into the 21st century’s brand of basketball, and one of the league’s greatest deep shoot makers in J.J. Redick still finds himself available on the open market.

See where I going with this?!

Missing the postseason just once throughout his 15-year career, the shooting guard understands the pressures that come with high-level expectations, thus making him a solid mental fit in New York City.

Skillset wise, Redick may have lost a step — as is to be expected being that he’s 37-years-old — but he’d still provide the team a lethal knockdown shooter who shot 37 percent from deep last season, is a 41.5 percent 3-point shooter for his career, and is a mere 50 triples away from becoming the 11th player in NBA history to make at least 2,000 of his attempts from deep.
