NY Knicks: 3 free agents New York should still consider signing
By Mark Nilon
The NY Knicks have managed to follow up their very successful 2020-21 campaign with an equally as successful offseason and, more specifically, free agency period.
Kicking things off with the decision to re-up with a few key players from last year’s postseason run (Derrick Rose, Nerlens Noel, Alec Burks, & Taj Gibson), the Knickerbockers then went on to snag two rather underrated talents in Evan Fournier and Kemba Walker to even out the rest of their roster.
With this, Leon Rose and co. have managed to put New York in a better position than last, as they addressed two of the team’s weakest areas with their numerous transactions (point guard and shot creators not named Julius Randle and RJ Barrett).
However, despite these wonderful signings, the front office should still be looking to make some more moves in an effort to bolster their roster even further come 2021-22 and, being that it’s only the second week of free agency, there are still a few quality players available that could help Tom Thibodeau round out the rest of his rotation.
Today, we present to you 3 players still unsigned on the open market that we believe the NY Knicks should strongly consider signing:
NY Knicks free agent target No. 1) Josh Hart
This front office has gone about and made it clear they’re looking to capitalize on their 2020-21 success through their various offseason moves of prioritizing adding veterans to the roster.
Still in need of some two-way talents who can defend on the perimeter and convert on their 3-point attempts, perhaps another low-key solid vet they may wish to consider bringing aboard to serve as a trusty tole player off the pine is 26-year-old wing, Josh Hart.
Through 47 games played with the New Orleans Pelicans this past season, the fourth-year talent averaged 9.2 points, eight boards, 2.3 assists, and just shy of a steal on 44 percent shooting from the floor.
A tough-nosed player with a high motor would fit beautifully in a Thibodeau system, while his willingness to handle the ball and stroke it on catch-and-shoot triples could prove to be a nice addition to the team’s bench unit.
