NY Knicks — Most disappointing performance: Immanuel Quickley

Let’s get this straight, in no way will I be ripping Immanuel Quickley for his play in a Summer League game. I am fully confident he will show out eventually. But, the performance from IQ in his first ever Summer League game was clearly a huge disappointment.

This was a game the New York Knicks definitely could have won had Quickley had a better shooting performance, but wins aren’t very important this time of year, so he will be given a pass. It is hard to ignore, however, how poorly IQ shot the ball in this game.

For much of this game, he couldn’t hit outer space if he was shot out of the International Space Station.

Quickley is no stranger to being a streaky player, as his 39% field goal percentage from his rookie season will show you. But, we still did and should expect more from the second-year guard, even in an environment that has very little bearing on the Knicks 2021-22 regular season.

He shot a poultry 5-17 and was just 2-11 from downtown. He got plenty of good looks on his way to 15 points, but many of them didn’t fall. On the bright side though, Quickley did finish the game with 8 assists. It was great to see him properly set up his teammates and still be able to have a positive impact to some extent on offense. We will get to see a couple of those passes in the next slide, as IQ was able to feed Jericho Sims for a couple of beautiful highlight plays…
