New York Knicks: Candidate #2 – Justise Winslow

Yes, another wing player who is a former lottery pick and who is currently a reclamation project. These are the perfect examples of players who can be gotten for cheap and who still hold promise. At 25 years of age, Justise Winslow still has the tools to be an effective role player in the league.

Winslow has been plagued by injury for the last few seasons after showing the ability to be a good 3 & D forward. The struggle has been real for Winslow in his NBA career. He’s played a combined 37 games during the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 seasons amassing a total of 8 injuries. He was also a DNP for the final week of February and nearly all of March this season for what is listed as “injury management.”

Winslow has shot extremely poorly in his limited time on the floor the past two seasons but has still been a very good rebounder and playmaker (6.6 RPG and 4 APG in 19-20, 5.4 RPG and 4.3 APG in 18-19). Prior to his avalanche of injuries, Winslow was showing positive development in his shooting prowess. Winslow shot 37.5% from three on 3.9 attempts in 18-19. He also shot 38% from deep the year prior.

His court vision would be a nice addition for the New York Knicks, and you can’t have enough 3&D wings in the NBA. He just needs to stay healthy long enough to get back into form and potentially crack an NBA rotation.
