NBA Draft: Ziaire Williams’ ideal fit with the New York Knicks
New York Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau stated a few weeks ago that he’s looking to address the team’s offense. Thibodeau said,
"“It’s something that we talked about going into the season. We wanted to build our foundation, starting with our defense of course, and adding to our shooting and our offense. We’re always looking to add that shooting. And it’s not only just shooting the three, it’s going off the dribble as well.”"
Hard to find a player at pick 19, or at the end of the lottery (if New York decides to trade up) to fit those needs than Ziaire Williams.
The Knicks need guys who can create their own shot, and hit open shots in the NBA. Williams will need to add weight and strength, but his body mechanics, size, and athleticism reflect just how well he can score off the dribble.
Ziaire Williams himself said,
"“I watched the Knicks a lot — a lot in the playoffs…I know they could use a wing who can shoot it and is versatile like me. They’re very scrappy, gritty and it’s defense before everything. That’s what Thibodeau preaches. It all starts with the hunger.’’"
Among the plausible prospects that could be sitting there right before the Knicks are on the clock, Ziaire Williams might be their ideal NBA Draft prospect. Stanford coaches have raved about his work ethic andattitude, and have highlighted how much the off-the-court issues at Stanford impacted his outlook.
The NBA Draft is here, and Ziaire Williams may soon be calling himself a member of the New York Knicks.
