New York Knicks: Nerlens Noel | B (84/100 points)
Entertainment Value: 7 points
Future with the Knicks: 8 points
Stability: 13 points
Chemistry: 18 points
Eye Test: 16 points
Statistics: 22 points
Entertainment Value: It’s hard to take away points from many of the Knicks here because the whole team was box office-worthy for how they put it together. However, Noel on his own isn’t and doesn’t have the type of game that draws you in to single out him.
Future with the Knicks: The way Noel played this season and how he bought into Tom Thibodeau’s defensive system was beyond commendable. I’d have to think that’s worth bringing him back.
Stability: Noel was pretty reliable all season long and has been for the past three seasons. However, past injuries are a slight cause for concern.
Chemistry: This team is all about trusting one another and stepping up when one goes down. Noel did that in place of Mitchell Robinson and earned a pretty big role as the season wore on.
Eye Test: Noel passes the eye test on the defensive end, but not as much so on offense. However, he knows what he’s in the game to do and that’s what counts the most, especially on this re-branded defensive-minded New York Knicks team.
Statistics: 5.1 points and 6.4 rebounds per game won’t blow you away. What will astonish you is how he protected the rim. 2.2 blocks per game ranked second in the Association only to Rudy Gobert. Take that for a stat.
