New York Knicks: Julius Randle | A+ (98/100 points)

Entertainment Value: 10/10 points
Future with the Knicks: 10/10 points
Stability: 15/15 points
Chemistry: 20/20 points
Eye Test: 18/20 points
Statistics: 25/25 points

Entertainment Value: Randle was a box office type player this season. Even though COVID-19 affected how many tickets could be sold for a game, Randle was the show to see at Madison Square Garden. He delivered at home, scoring 2.8 more points per game in front of the New York Knicks crowd than on the road.

Future with the Knicks: Whether or not New York decides to keep Randle as the number one option going forward or search for a go-to guy and use him as the Robin, he’s a part of the future. What Julius Randle did this season was extraordinary. It’s the best single-season a Knick has had since Carmelo Anthony. He isn’t going anywhere.

Stability: There’s not much more to this other than that Randle played 71 of 72 games. Even throughout his seven-year career, Randle’s stayed relatively healthy and showed no signs otherwise this season.

Chemistry: Randle was trusted by coaches and players to be the go-to guy. He excelled at that and likely will continue to hold that role unless the Knicks go out and get another star.

Eye Test: Here’s where I dock off a few points. It’s hard to knock Randle, but his performance in the playoffs didn’t look promising if you must. However, that was his first-ever playoffs as the lead guy, so I’m willing to cut him a break for now. It would only be a major problem if it becomes repetitive.

Statistics: I mentioned it in a previous article, but I’ll say it again. Julius Randle was in some elite company this season. Only four other players hit the 20 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists per game benchmark. Joining Julius were Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic, Russell Westbrook and Domantas Sabonis.
