Should the NY Knicks make this trade for Dejounte Murray?

Dejounte Murray is a 6-foot-4 slashing guard coming off a career season with the San Antonio Spurs, averaging 15.1 points, 5.4 assists, and 1.5 steals per game on 50.9 TS%.

He has improved year over year and is beginning to show signs of having a reliable jump shot, hitting 47.7% of his mid-range twos but is still shooting just 32% from behind the arc.

He’s made it a point to extend his range every season of his career so far, and next year will likely be when he breaks out from behind the 3-point line.

If the Knicks’ developmental staff can turn both Julius Randle and RJ Barrett into 40%+ shooters from long-range, they can fix anyone.

In this trade, the Knicks send over Frank Ntilikina via sign and trade, Kevin Knox, and the 19th pick from this year’s draft.

The Spurs get two promising young wings that can round out the end of their bench alongside a valuable pick in #19 from the Knicks.

Both Knox and Frank have shown the ability to knock down the corner 3-point shot, so adding those two to a team that ranked 22nd in the league in 3-point shooting percentage would help bring the Spurs into the modern era of basketball.

If Murray could just get his 3-point percentage up above league average, he’d be a relatively cheap and welcomed addition to a building, young Knicks team.
