#4 – Put-back Over Porzingis: April 2nd, 2021 vs Dallas Mavericks

By the time April came around, Toppin had done enough as a rookie to show that he has promise at the NBA level to be a quality player.

Still, not all Knicks fans were sold on Toppin’s skill and status as a lottery pick. But, if there is one thing you can do to win over Knicks fans, it’s getting the better of Kristaps Porzingis.

Toppin was able to do just that. In a game where Julius Randle nearly killed Maxi Kleber, it was a put-back dunk that stole the show. Obi flew in from the three-point line and threw down a beautiful one-handed dunk off a missed Immanuel Quickley three-pointer.

In the process, Toppin managed to get past and outreach Porzingis, who was in the front of the rim and looked like he was in the proper position to secure the rebound.

But what can I say, how could we have expected anything other than somebody else to come down with the ball? We all know Porzingis is a poor rebounder even though he is 7 freaking 3.

This dunk finally crowned Toppin as Knicks royalty, at least for most fans.
