2021 NBA Draft Mock 3.0: Charlotte Hornets select Kai Jones
The Charlotte Hornets really took a big step forward in 2020-21 and have established themselves as an up-and-coming team.
The cohesive team culture lead by head coach James Borego along with young talent throughout the roster, most notably LaMelo Ball, has them in a prime position to take another step forward in the Eastern Conference in 2022.
Kai Jones, the Bahamian big man out of the University of Texas, is one of the best big-man prospects in the 2021 NBA Draft and a perfect pick-and-roll partner for LaMelo Ball.
Jones is a terrific athlete with great size. He can catch lob passes from difficult angles and crashes hard to the rim.
Not only does he already possess nice rim-running skills, but he has also shown some indications of potentially being able to stretch the floor and shoot the basketball.
The Hornets need some size in their frontcourt, and they’re getting a fantastic center in Kai Jones, who will be flushing down LaMelo Ball passes for years to come.
2021 NBA Draft Mock 3.0: San Antonio Spurs select Franz Wagner
A 6’9 forward out of the University of Michigan, Franz Wagner has a more diverse skill set than he’s usually given credit for.
The San Antonio Spurs could use a shooter of his size, but Wagner is more than just a catch-and-shoot wing. His shooting may be what gets on him on the court early in his career, but Wagner has good ball-handling attributes for someone his size.
Not only that, he’s a strong defender. Wagner can be a player who can guard multiple positions, and the Spurs could use a young player of his caliber on the wing.
A team that could do some re-tooling with the possible departure of DeMar DeRozan, the San Antonio Spurs need some players on the wing who can create offense.
Wagner could be a great compliment alongside the Spurs’ young backcourt players.
