2021 NBA Draft Mock 3.0: Sacramento Kings select Davion Mitchell

The Kings need defense, and they go out and draft the best perimeter defender in the draft, Davion “off night” Mitchell.

Point guard may very well be the Kings strongest position, but they could do some shuffling around with De’Aaron Fox, Tyrese Haliburton, and now Davion Mitchell.

This is a putrid defensive team and they need as much perimeter defense as they can get. Perhaps the Kings could’ve gone with a wing or frontcourt player, but this spot makes for Mitchell as the team is getting great value on a potential All-Star level guard.

De’Aaron Fox is still in Sacramento, for now, and this team wants to compete. They’re tired of draft lotteries and they need to get some new, instant-impact life if they want to make a run at the Western Conference Playoffs.

Mitchell brings intense defense, playmaking, and scoring. The Kings now have 3 young guards who can create with the ball in their hands. Now, they need to start showing results in the win column.

F/G. New Orleans Pelicans. Moses Moody. 10. player. 69.

2021 NBA Draft: New Orleans Pelicans select Moses Moody

The Pelicans need to surround Zion Williamson with a stronger supporting cast, and Arkansas wing Moses Moody is a perfect fit.

The Pelicans are another one of these younger teams that really want to make a jump into playoff contention ASAP. This team is a little more high profile due to the star power that Zion Williamson brings, and they’re going to want to do everything in their power to show him that they can build a contender.

With Williamson and Brandon Ingram as the centerpieces, they can use strong supporting shooters. Moody can slot in a play the 3-and-D role on the wing that should be a nice complement to the rest of the roster.

Make no mistake, Moody still has a lot of room to grow and could be much more than a role player. He has tremendous size and footwork and he’s an excellent prospect to add to the team’s young core.
