2021 NBA Draft Mock 3.0: Cleveland Cavaliers select Jalen Suggs
Cleveland is going to have to make some tough decisions on their backcourt.
They have a young core of Collin Sexton, Darius Garland, Isaac Okoro, and Jarrett Allen, but you can’t just accumulate young talent and expect results – you need to get the wheels turning before the losing environment starts to stink. I can’t think of a better prospect to get the motor started than Jalen Suggs.
It’s an interesting situation to have two promising young players like Sexton and Garland who have already been deemed a “bad fit” alongside each other.
Cleveland has to take either Suggs or Green with Mobley off the board, and maybe this means a possible trade where they get rid of Sexton, who hasn’t signed an extension yet.
Either way, they’re getting not just an extremely talented point guard, but someone who has won at every level he’s played in. Suggs can bring leadership, playmaking, perimeter defense, and organization to a roster that desperately needs it.
2021 NBA Draft Mock 3.0: Toronto Raptors select Jalen Green
The Raptors shot up in the draft lottery and get to pick in a prime spot, where they really don’t have to make a difficult decision.
Here, they draft the extremely talented Jalen Green, who just tore up the NBA G-League to the tune of 17.9 points per game.
The Raptors are coming off a disappointing season and are looking to bounce back and get right back to being a playoff contender. They certainly have the pieces to do so.
With Kyle Lowry’s potential departure, this team may want to look into some reshuffling of their backcourt.
Fred VanVleet certainly has the ball-handling and playmaking chops to run point guard, and Green could be perfect alongside him at the 2. He’s far from just a “scorer”.
Jalen Green is the full package. Hyper athletic, a powerful scorer, dedicated to his craft – he’s someone who has the talent and worth ethic to be a superstar in the NBA.
