NY Knicks: Josh Christopher can be a high-level defender

In his time at Arizona State Josh Christopher showed that defense was one of his greatest strengths.

His tenacious defense would be a perfect addition to the league’s best defensive team last season. His energy on that side of the ball is unlike most other players his age.

His 6-foot 9-inch wingspan makes him a menacing presence defensively, especially out on the wing, and it also allows him to guard multiple positions.

That long wingspan also helped Christopher to nab 1.5 steals per game at Arizona State.

Many times throughout the season his long arms would clog passing lanes and combined with his jumping ability, he was a presence at the rim for his size. He managed 8 blocks in his 15 games, an impressive tally by a guard.

His strong physical frame means he’s less likely to get out-muscled by veteran NBA players on defense compared with some of the other prospects the Knicks have been linked to.

He gives tons of effort on every defensive possession, which often translates into turnovers for the opposing team.

Most of all, you can tell he loves playing defense, which makes him a perfect player for Thibodeau.

Any player that’s going to get minutes under Thibs better be ready to play tough defense every single possession and Christopher’s shown he’s not only able to do that, but he loves to.
