NY Knicks: 2 players NY could steal away from the Brooklyn Nets
Would you want the NY Knicks to sign Bruce Brown in the offseason?
Bruce Brown is a high-energy guy that the Knicks could grab for the cheap and bring off the bench.
He played incredibly well in spots during the Nets’ playoff run and has earned himself a new contract that Brooklyn is likely to not be able to afford.
I think he can command something in the realm of $6-8 million annually across a 2 or 3-year deal.
When playing next to Brooklyn’s ‘Big 3′, Brown acted as more of a small-ball 5 standing at 6’4.
The major knock on Brown is that he can’t shoot at all but if he were to come off of the Knicks’ bench surrounded by the right players, I think the fit would work well.
He’s a high-motor, defensive-minded player who plays aggressively on both ends. The quintessential ‘Thibs’ kind of guy.
He’s also a really good rebounder for a guard, as he averaged 5.4 boards per game on the season.
All of this said it would just feel that much sweeter if the Knicks were to outbid the Nets and steal Bruce Brown away from them, especially considering how much of a factor he was for them throughout the season.
Any time a team can get an impactful player, it’s great…but when you steal that player from a crosstown rival…it’s a thing of beauty.
