New York Knicks: What Coaching Tier is Tom Thibodeau? – Tier C

Tier C: Top Notch Guys

  • Mike Budenholzer (Milwaukee Bucks
  • Tom Thibodeau (New York Knicks)
  • Quin Snyder (Utah Jazz)

So in comes Tom Thibodeau. All four are some of the best coaches that have never won the coveted Larry O’Brien Trophy but have had more winning seasons than not and thus earned the respect to be coaching for a long time. Snyder is the youngest on this list, but something tells me he’ll be around for quite some time as well.

To highlight Tom Thibodeau, he could be a Tier B guy if I didn’t exclude non-champions from that list. He made the Chicago Bulls an Eastern Conference powerhouse, got a not-so-good Minnesota Timberwolves team two winning seasons in three tries, and is currently revitalizing New York Knicks basketball.

Budenholzer has had great players, but no superteam to his credit and Snyder is a solid young coach who has competed in a tough Western Conference each year he’s been the head coach of the Utah Jazz.

All three coaches could retire with resumes good enough to lead them into Springfield, Massachusetts when they hang it up. But right now, New York Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau is on the list of the great coaches who just need that one shining moment.
