NY Knicks: City Edition Jersey

This season’s City edition uniforms were primarily black featuring an orange and blue gradient down the side and the moniker “city never sleeps” on the front. The jerseys were designed by Ronnie Fieg, owner of fashion brand, “Kith” and a Queens, NY, native.

“I’m a Knicks fan for life. We designed their City Edition jersey for the 2020-2021 season, which they’ll be playing in on Friday nights and nationally televised games,” said Fieg via Instagram.

Opinions on the jersey were mixed upon initial release but the Knicks still donned the special edition uniforms 15 times this season.

They won 60% of those games picking up nine wins.

Let’s back to that nine-game win streak in April, which was pivotal in securing the 4th seed.

While four of those games were won in the white jerseys, the other five were all won in the City uniforms.

Over those five games, Julius Randle averaged just over 31 points per game.

One of those games was against the Mavericks where Randle dropped his second 44-piece of the season to go along with 10 rebounds and 7 assists.

Another big game in the City jerseys was game 2 of the playoffs where the Knicks picked up their only win of the series behind 26 points from Derrick Rose.

They would try to continue the momentum wearing the City jerseys again in game 3 but unfortunately lost by 11 points despite 30 more points from Rose.

While the Knicks didn’t wear the City uniforms frequently, when a big game came around you’d see the boys in all black, and more times than not they came home with a win.
