NY Knicks: The New Orleans Pelicans want to add shooters like Alec Burks around Zion Williamson

The New Orleans Pelicans are an interesting spot. They have some tremendous young core players in Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram but a lot of uncertainty surrounding them.

The expectations aren’t too high, but with year 3 of Zion Williamson coming up, you don’t want to linger as a non-playoff for too long. This team is going to want to add more talent around their franchise player to show him that they’re headed in the right direction. Alec Burks could fit in as a potential secondary ball-handler.

New Orleans will likely have some major changes to their backcourt in the near future, with Lonzo Ball and Josh Hart’s future shrouded in uncertainty. The team could look to expand Kira Lewis’s role while dishing out money to other backcourt players, and Burks would immediately get a lot of playing time on their roster.

The team will want to add shooters after finishing 25th in the league in 3-point shooting.

Outside of Brandon Ingram, this team has lacked a wing player who can put the ball on the floor and create off the dribble. Burks can take on a lot of the same secondary scoring in New Orleans that he did so well with the NY Knicks.

New Orleans is going to do everything in their power to surround Zion Williamson with players he can thrive with, so don’t be surprised if New Orleans shells out some money for Alec Burks.
