2021 NBA Draft Mock 2.0: Brooklyn Nets draft UNC big man Day’Ron Sharpe

The Brooklyn Nets have all of the perimeter playmaking and scoring in the world, so they decide to go with a big, bruising potential NBA center and draft Day’Ron Sharpe.

Outside of Nicholas Claxton, there isn’t much long-term potential in the Nets frontcourt.

Day’Ron Sharpe has a long way to go to be a heavy-minutes starter, but he can still make his mark right away.

NBA Draft- Day’Ron Sharpe NBA player comparisons

  • Wendell Carter – potential as a heavy rebounding force
  • Richaun Holmes
  • Damian Jones

Sharpe is a tremendously active, hulking big man. At 19 years old, 6’11, 265 pounds, Sharpe’s physicality is going to find its way into the Nets bench rotation.

Day’Ron Sharpe is active not just by using his size but as a fantastic hustler as well. Don’t think of him as overly slow too – he’s a nimble big man who is going to make the effort to go out and guard the perimeter.

Sharpe has a ways to go with some of his defensive technique and offensive low post game, but there is absolutely potential there.

He doesn’t need to be a ball-handler on the Brooklyn Nets. What he can be, is a defensive anchor who can wreak havoc on the boards.

Sharpe can essentially do the dirty work for Brooklyn’s big-3, but down the line, we could be looking at a double-double big man.
