NY Knicks: 2 different trades that bring Collin Sexton to NY
In response to a previous article of mine where I explored the idea of Collin Sexton being traded to the NY Knicks, I wanted to take a look at what a potential trade could look like.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are in this weird spot where they have some young talent to build around but need to trim off some fat so to say.
They’ve got a “core 4” of Darius Garland, Collin Sexton, Jarrett Allen, and Isaac Okoro.
If there’s any validity to the article I cited from Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com, being that Garland and Sexton essentially play the same position and that Sexton’s contract year is upcoming, he may be on his way out the door.
Now, there’s a number of point guard needy teams out there but maybe none other needier than the Knicks.
It seems that Immanuel Quickley will have more of an off-ball, shooting guard role off of the bench for the foreseeable future, and even if Derrick Rose does return next year, it’s likely he will maintain a role off the bench as well.
Elfrid Payton seems to be as good as gone after this season.
Could Collin Sexton be on his way to play for the NY Knicks?
While there’s a number of different directions the Knicks could look to in the offseason to improve at the 1 spot, maybe Collin Sexton could be a darkhorse option.
I think Sexton would fit in well with this current Knicks team because he’s a gritty, hard-nosed player who can score at will.
He’s been relegated to a shooting guard role because his playmaking is inferior to that of Darius Garland, but the way the Knicks’ roster is constructed today, they don’t need that true, primary facilitator to run the point.
A guy who can shoot and score that can get you between 4 to 5 assists per game would fit in nicely next to Julius Randle who does a lot of the playmaking as well as RJ Barrett who can dish it out a bit also.
The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of the Knicks bringing on Sexton as long as the price is right.
Here we’ll be exploring 2 different trade options to bring in the former Alabama product.
