Best players in the New York Knicks vs Atlanta Hawks series: #7 Clint Capela

Clint Capela’s first year in Atlanta might just be the big man’s best season yet. Capela led the NBA in rebounds at 14.3 per game and had the second-highest points per game average in his seven-year career.

As far as pure centers go, he’s easily the most talented in this first-round series, and quite possibly the third-best in the Eastern Conference playoffs to Joel Embiid and Bam Adebayo. Earlier this season, he had a triple-double – with blocks.

But for all Capela does well, he lacks in being a complete player and true threat. His offensive game doesn’t extend too far past dunks and layups and he’s not a passing big either. Rather, Capela is useful for cleaning up on the glass and finishing down low but isn’t someone who will take over a game or make others around him better.

If Nerlens Noel comes to play, it can help the New York Knicks to neutralize Capela’s presence inside. If not, he can have a hay day, but it won’t ultimately change the course of the series.
