NY Knicks: Derrick Rose tapping “Chicago days” ahead of NBA Playoffs

Before the NY Knicks acquired Derrick Rose from the Detroit Pistons, Rose told his then-head coach, Dwayne Casey, he wanted to be in the NBA playoffs. Casey told him, “Derrick, you may have a chance here just as much as they do in New York”.

Here we are just days before the #4 seed NY Knicks host the Atlanta Hawks for game 1 at Madison Square Garden, and Rose has been playing the most important basketball of his career since he was with the Chicago Bulls.

It’s been 10 years since Derrick Rose became the youngest player to ever win MVP.

Here he is a decade later with the same head coach, playing a lead role on a marquee franchise that’s preparing to host their first game of the postseason.

Derrick Rose’s play has incrementally gotten better as this season has progressed. This team certainly wouldn’t have the same record without him.

The Chicago legend has evolved his game in the latter stages of his career. Yet, in so many ways, he’s turned back the clock and unlocked the mystique, jaw-dropping level of scoring that was 2010 Rose. He’s just not throwing down dunks. How has he been doing it?
