Alec Burks’ scoring could be the X-Factor for the NY Knicks

The first domino to fall in the Knicks’ free agency plans happened when they signed Alec Burks, and he’s helped stabilize the team’s offense ever since.

He’s been reliable as long as he’s been healthy – providing the team with a steady 12.2 points per game.

His role has been similar to how he’s been used prior in his career – where he helped the Utah Jazz and Philadelphia 76ers to playoff runs.

Burks wasn’t a huge contributor for the Jazz in the playoffs, but he still his time to shine. He played in 13 playoff games from 2012-2018, saving his best performance for last – scoring 22 points in 31 minutes, although it was in a 10 point series-ending loss to the Houston Rockets.

He wouldn’t play in another playoff game until he reached the NBA bubble with the 76ers – his luck wouldn’t be any better though, as his team was swept by the Boston Celtics.

The guard put up the best numbers of his playoff career though, averaging 10.5 points per game in 23.8 minutes.

Burks has had a tumultuous end to his season – COVID protocols and a minor knee injury taking him off the court.

Still, the Knicks will be happy to have him in their rotation as they make their return to the playoffs.
