Nerlens Noel’s defense will be a huge factor in the NY Knicks’ success

Nerlens Noel has turned out to be a fantastic signing for the Knicks – without the ability to plug him into the lineup after Mitchell Robinson’s tough injury luck, who knows if we’d even be talking about the Knicks in the playoffs.

‘The Nerlen Wall’ didn’t experience the playoffs much when he came into the league, but he’s been there each of the past two seasons.

As a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Noel was a key player in games against the Portland Trailblazers and Houston Rockets – taking the latter to seven games.

The Knicks’ center has never scored double digits in a playoff game, reaching a high of 8 points only twice. He’s still logged at least ten minutes of playing time in 10 of his 12 playoff appearances – even gaining a positive plus/minus in over half those games.

Noel has never been known for his offense, and that hasn’t changed with the Knicks. As long as he’s there to protect the rim, that’ll be enough for Thibodeau’s squad.
