The NY Knicks could have selected PJ Washington back in 2019

Another former Kentucky Wildcat, PJ Washington was selected just one spot before Herro at pick #12.

Washington primarily plays the power forward position so obviously, this would interfere with keeping both him and Julius Randle on the roster at the same time.

Maybe the Knicks don’t even sign Randle if we draft PJ…

Thank goodness we don’t have to deal with that kind of a mess.

PJ is pretty versatile and can play the 3 or the small ball 5 when called upon so that could have been intriguing.

His shooting has gotten much better year over year, where he shot almost 38% as a rookie and is now shooting nearly 42% from deep as a sophomore.

Clearly not the scorer that RJ is, and it’s very evident that Rj’s scoring ceiling is much much higher than Washington’s.

Just to keep things in perspective, RJ Barrett as we all know is a shooting guard with the ability to both guard and play the small forward position.

Washington is considered a “big”.

RJ is averaging 6 rebounds per game while Washington is only averaging 6.3 per contest.

Not a huge discrepancy there at all.

What separates the two is their scoring ability. RJ blows PJ out of the water.

Sure, the idea of having both Washington and Herro would be nice, but I just think RJ’s ceiling is so much higher than both of theirs that having both players today wouldn’t make the Knicks any better.
