The NY Knicks could have selected Tyler Herro back in 2019

Tyler Herro was selected with the 13th overall pick of the 2019 NBA Draft.

Theoretically, the Knicks could have selected him with either the 8th or 10th pick.

Herro had a sensational rookie season in the NBA and received some rookie of the year votes, finishing in 5th place.

He also made the 2019-20 NBA All-Rookie second team.

Herro averaged 13.5 points and shot nearly 40% from deep as a rookie, but is maybe best known for his performances during the NBA Bubble games, the playoffs, and the NBA Finals last season.

If you asked anyone who wasn’t a Knicks fan and maybe some of our own fanbase last season, they would have all said Herro was the surefire superior player to RJ Barrett.

Since last season though, his production has fallen off a cliff.

Not sure if defenders have better figured his game out or if the celebrity of being Tyler Herro and having rap songs written about him got to his head, but he’s not producing the same as he did last season.

Even with more overall opportunity share of the offense, playing more minutes, and getting more shots up, his scoring numbers are about the same as last year but his shooting efficiencies, namely his 3-point shooting are way down.

He’s currently shooting under 35% from long-range which has been his primary calling card since his days at Kentucky.

Even if Herro were paired with one of the other names I’m about to mention…
