The New York Knicks are in serious playoff contention for the first time since 2013. Here’s how they can build on that and become a title favorite.

The four-seed in the Eastern Conference currently belongs to the New York Knicks. This is a fact in early May, which shows how special this season is. This season a playoff appearance is a big step in the right direction, but why settle there?

Looking ahead to future seasons, this New York Knicks team is built for the long haul. Julius Randle is an emerging superstar, and at just 26-years-old has plenty of years left under his belt.

RJ Barrett has provided a secondary scoring option in just his second year in the NBA. After those two is a long list of good young potential and guys vying to stay in the league that brings it on both ends of the floor.

If this New York Knicks team wants to be more than just a one-hit-wonder, there are improvements to be made and moves that can set the franchise up for the long haul.

This team can easily be title contenders in less than three years, but I’ll be humble for a moment and set the goal there. Here’s how they do it.
