NY Knicks: Luca Vildoza is a 3-level scorer

Vildoza has earned a reputation in Europe as a tough shot maker. Fancy footwork, tough layup combos and the ability to find space – Luca Vildoza has a knack for creating his own shot. The Knicks have certainly recognized the value of guards who can find their own shot with Immanuel Quickley and Derrick Rose.

The production the Knicks have gotten from those guards has been indispensable to their success. I think that’s where a lot of the reasoning came behind the decision to go sign him. If one of the Knicks’ main guards were to miss any time, the Knicks could have a tough time replacing the production, and hopefully, Vildoza could do just that.

At 6’3 190lbs, Luka Vildoza has played both point and shooting guard overseas. In today’s game where there are plenty of backcourt players who bounce around as both lead guards and shooting guards (Shouts out Immanuel Quickley), Vildoza should fit in fine.

Being able to break down NBA defenders will be a big test for test 25-year-old guard. He has a deep of bag moves and can get to the rim with some crafty dribbles and hesitations. He shot just under 39% from 3 in the Euroleague this season while taking plenty of shots off the dribble. His shooting has improved with experience.

The shooting ability is something that will allow Vildoza to play off-ball in the NBA as a spot-up shooter. It’s hard to imagine him being given any kind of heavy ball-handling duties even if a player were to get injured, so his ability to hit from long range alone could make him an asset on a deep bench. The scoring ability isn’t the only plus to the Argentine’s game.
