The NY Knicks will look to fill their final roster spot by signing Luca Vildoza, according to Hoops Hype. New York has had an extra roster spot for a while now and it now looks as though they’ll be signing Vildoza as he finalizes a buyout with his current club Baskonia in Spain’s Liga ACB.
This move comes with just a few weeks left in the regular season. The Knicks are jostling for playoff positioning in an ever-shifting Eastern Conference. They’re hoping this move provides them with some added depth, and maybe something more.
NY Knicks: Who is Luca Vildoza?
Vildoza is a 25-year-old Argentine point guard who has played for Baskonia in Spain’s top flight of basketball since 2017. Last season, he led his club to their first championship in 10 years and claimed Finals MVP honors.
Luca Vidloza has been on the NBA radar for a while now. He declared for the 2017 draft but went undrafted. Kobe Bryant was reportedly “Enamored” with Vildoza when he saw him play for the Argentina National Team back in 2019.
The young guard has a lot to prove, but early reports have indicated that this is yet another shrewd move from Knicks’ front office. While he won’t be a part of the rotation to start, there’s always a chance he gets thrown into the lineup one night. Let’s look at why fans should be excited about the newest Knick.
